The C114 takes inspiration from two classic AKG mics that engineers have kept in rotation for decades — the AKG C414 and AKG C12. With an edge-terminated, gold-sputtered capsule reminiscent of the AKG C12, the C114 aims to offer the same balanced frequency response and smooth top end as AKG’s top-of-the-line tube mic. Inspiration from the C414 is also very present in the design of the C114. From the FET condenser framework to the selectable polar patterns on the mic face, the C114 incorporates reliable, functional features that have been continually used on best-selling albums.
