    Incredible Value in Pro Headphones

Looking for amazing value in professional monitor headphones? We have a great suggestion: the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x. A-T’s flagship M series ‘phones feature 45mm neodymium magnet drivers that deliver the accurate frequency response and stunning detail you need to make sound decisions when you’re recording, mixing, or DJing. The closed-back design gives you superior isolation with minimal bleed, while the circumaural earpads give you cushy comfort during long sessions. Factor in their space-saving collapsible design, swivel earcups, and detachable cables (the ATH-M50x comes with both straight and coiled ones), and you have a winner.

    Closed-back vs. open-back

Also referred to sometimes as simply “closed” and “open,” this distinction addresses the design of the part of the headphone that covers the area behind the driver in a straight line away from the side of your head. Closed-back headphones like the ATH-M50x prevent sound from escaping and leaking into your microphone. The downside of this design is that it traps pressure inside the headphone, which creates false low frequencies. Open-back headphones, on the other hand, don’t suffer from this issue. They deliver outstanding accuracy and clarity that are suitable for critical listening.

    Circumaural vs. supra-aural

In layman’s terms, these terms simply mean “over ear” (circumaural) and “on ear” (supra-aural). In the case of headphones, this refers to the design of the earcup, which is the cushion that sits between the headphone’s speakers (drivers) and your ear. Supra-aural headphones are rarely used for professional applications; although, they’re great for casual listening — especially if you need to be aware of what’s going on around you. On the other hand, over-ear headphones like the ATH-M50x offer excellent attenuation of external noise.

    Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Features:

    • Critically acclaimed sonic performance and build quality

    Yamaha HPH-MT5 Studio Monitor Headphone

    Comfortable, Accurate Mix Headphones

Like the NS-10s before them, Yamaha’s HPH-MT5 Studio Monitor Headphones are designed to cast a white-hot spotlight on the problem areas of your audio. From the studio to the stage, these high-performance cans will help put the finishing touches on your mixes and paint your source material in a realistic light. Yamaha HPH-MT5s are loaded with full-range 40mm neodymium dynamic drivers for accurate sound reproduction across the entire audible spectrum. Their comfortable ABS headband, ear cups, and pads are designed to stand up to long mixing hours. The Yamaha HPH-MT5s include a carry bag, 10-foot detachable cable, and 1/4″ adapter.

    Closed-back, circumaural design

There are two factors at play here: the closed-back earcups, and a circumaural (around-the-ear) design. The closed backs mean that your Yamaha HPH-MT5 Studio Monitor Headphones offer increased isolation from outside sources, suiting them to stage use where you’re surrounded by loud audio. Their circumaural design means they seal around the ears to create the big bass needed for mixing applications.

    Should I mix with headphones?

Monitoring in a reliable, treated environment with speakers you trust is always going to trump mixing on headphones. But today’s mixing headphones have gotten so advanced that, for audio folks without a great room and reliable speakers, they’re sometimes a better alternative. Take the Yamaha HPH-MT5s. These headphones are built for mixing from the ground up. Their drivers and ear cups have been designed to eliminate extraneous resonance, ensuring that what you hear in your HPH-MT5s remains true to the audio source. Headphones also have the added advantage of being portable — mix at the beach or at the coffee shop if you feel so inclined.

    Business or pleasure?

Making great mixes means getting your hands dirty. That means hearing things that are sometimes unpleasant — room peaks, bass buildup, shrill sibilance, noisy guitar amps, and so on. As a result, the Yamaha HPH-MT5s are not  our top recommendation for pleasure listening. But if you’re looking to make solid mixes that translate from system to system, they should be high on your list.

Yamaha HPH-MT5 Studio Monitor Headphones Features:

    • Finish: White
    • Specially designed for mixing
    • Shed light on the problem areas of a mix
    • Suited for the stage or studio
    • 40mm CCAW neodymium drivers reproduce the entire audible spectrum (20Hz-20kHz)

    Need More Me?

The Behringer Powerplay P1 personal in-ear monitor amplifier puts monitor mix control into your hands. On stage, stop trying to flag down the sound engineer for your monitor mix tweaks. Instead, turn yourself up when needed. If you’re a studio engineer, the Powerplay P1’s dual inputs put the cue mix in the musician’s hands and lets you focus on the main mix. Powered by battery or optional power supply, the level and balance/mix controls give you the tools you need to create your perfect monitor mix. Incredibly useful on stage or in the studio, Behringer’s Powerplay P1 personal in-ear monitor amplifier is a budget-friendly solution to your monitoring woes.

Behringer Powerplay P1 Personal in-ear Monitor Amplifier at a Glance:

    • Take care of your most important instrument
    • Easily get “more me”
    • What about studio monitoring?

Take care of your most important instrumentSweetwater engineers and musicians know their primary instrument is their ears, and so is yours! By wearing in-ear monitors or headphones on stage instead of using a floor monitor, your ears are protected from screaming amps and hard-hitting drummers, and the isolation keeps your ears focused on your mix. You won’t need nearly as much volume and you’ll get a better monitoring experience. Behringer respects how important your hearing is as a performer too, so the P1 also includes a built-in limiter to protect your ears even further.

Easily get “more me”There’s nothing wrong with needing “more me” and the P1’s powerful headphone output makes sure you’ll be able to hear yourself perfectly no matter how loud things get on stage. Get the band together for rehearsal and use your digital audio mixer to dial in and save everyone’s monitor mix – cut your sound check time down to nothing and finally take advantage of all those auxiliary outputs. Dual XLR inputs give you two channels of signal that you can use in mono or stereo mode so you have the power to hear yourself and blend in the perfect amount of the band. Slip the P1 on your belt and get the best monitoring experience you’ve ever had – your band and the audience will thank you!

What about studio monitoring? The 9-volt battery operation and rugged metal chassis make the P1 perfect for stage, but what about the studio? As an engineer, the P1 puts the control of balance and volume into the hands of the musicians, leaving you to focus on the tracking. As a musician, control your mix and level without having to stop in the middle of a take. Using an optional power supply, you can set up a permanent monitoring station by mounting the device to a mic stand – run your input cables once and easily do all the cue signal routing within your DAW.

Behringer Powerplay P1 Personal In-ear Monitor Amplifier Features:

    • High-powered headphone output with limiter protects your ears; loud enough for drummers
    • Dual XLR inputs, mono or stereo operation, and Level and Balance controls give you control over your monitor mix
    • Convenient belt-clip and 9-volt battery with dual LED capacity indicators keeps you grooving on stage
    • Use with an optional power supply and mount on a standard mic stand for a permanent studio monitoring station

Bring hands-on control to your monitoring with Behringer’s Powerplay P1!

Convenient Active Volume Control for In-ears

The Powerplay P2 is the powered successor to Behringer’s completely passive PM1 personal in-ear monitor amp. The P2 delivers clear audio right to your in-ear monitors with the signal boost of an active amplifier, and it can run up to 12 hours on two AAA batteries (not included). This powerful belt- or strap-worn in-ear amp is specially designed for musicians and performers whose instruments require stationary play. Every part of the P2 is engineered to withstand the rigors of the road, from the smooth rotary volume control to the overbuilt metal enclosure and belt clip. Sweetwater reviewers were impressed with the locking XLR/TRS combo input, which helps keep foot traffic and stage mishaps from disconnecting your monitor source. The Behringer Powerplay P2 uses a standard 3.5mm output jack to drive in-ears, headphones, or earbuds, and it even features an internal switch for selecting mono or stereo use.

Behringer Powerplay P2 Personal In-ear Monitor Amplifier Features:
